I just finished the 369 Cleanse, The Original, and speaking truthfully…I feel great! This is the type of cleanse that is for everyone. There are three different versions, flexibility, and the best part-you actually eat the whole time. In this post I will break down some things that I learned during the cleanse, hoping to answer any questions you may have and to encourage you to give it a try. Of course, I am not a doctor, or even a Health Coach (maybe someday), but this is just my experience.
First off, this Cleanse is by The Medical Medium, Anthony Williams. I have followed his protocol for around four years now. It was first brought to me from my sister, the podcast he did on Celery Juice. I was trying to find a cure to the acne I had been suffering from since I was a teen. Celery Juice changed my life. I am not trying to sound dramatic, it truly did. I was able to see results I never got from the insane amount of money I had spent over the years on new face washes and cures. I then started to bring his other practices into my life and realized how much better I felt all around. Things I didn’t even know I was having problems with. Overtime, I am now Vegan, Gluten free (soy free, corn free, refined sugar free…). There are a few exceptions- freshly baked bread (still egg free) and corn chips and salsa at a restaurant. I say this because you can mold his protocol into your life, how you would like to. That’s one of the best parts! The 369 Cleanse can be found in his books- Liver Rescue and Cleanse to Heal. I believe the Cleanse to heal is the updated version, and that is the one I completed. If you are going to do the cleanse, I highly recommend getting this book. It has all the information, knowing what your body will be going through, and all the recipes. It’s great. I just ordered mine off Amazon. You can get it from many online sites, or possibly even at your local library. I know Anthony Williams tries to stock libraries to help get the information out there.

How much does this cleanse cost? I was really curious as to what this was all going to cost in
the end, so I kept track of all purchases I made toward the cleanse. In totally, this cleansed cost me around $252. If that seems expensive, there are many cleanses out there that cost more. Also remember, that is all your food/drinks/everything for 9 DAYS! You aren’t doing much else- not eating out or going out to bars, so that is all the money you spend during that time. Ways to save money…My first tip is going to your local farmer’s market if you can. I was able to save a lot by buying a ton of my fresh product from here. Plus, bonus, you are shopping local and helping those farms! And farmer’s markets are just really fun! I was lucky enough to find an organic farm at mine, you can always ask. You also do not have to buy organic. If you can afford it, in my opinion it is worth it, however don’t let that keep you from buying fruits and vegetables. Just wash really well.
How did I feel during the cleanse? Throughout the cleanse I felt good. Towards the end, I was getting a little sick of salads. And I went through some cravings- chocolate chips cookies, and then definitely chips, something crunchy and salty. The last mornings I wanted something cooked and warm to eat. You can also go through some emotional detoxing while on the cleanse. For me, I had some old feelings of anxiety come up, which sucked but I knew I had to work through them. Your trauma can actually be stored in fat cells of the foods you eat, and therefore, stored in your body. We must release this. I will say though, on that last day of the cleanse, I thought to myself, I can see how people do these back-to-back. Really, you feel great, and you do have some flexibility- juices or soups instead of salad. All the recipes tasted great. Or you can even do the 369 Simplified version which has a lot of flexibility. I could definitely see myself doing this cleanse again. I had a lot more energy on the other side and still do! I think this cleanse did a lot of healing for my body and liver specifically, but I have more healing to go. One time won’t fix all problems.
Was there anything that happened that I wasn’t expecting? I was not expecting to pee as much as I did, sorry if that is too much information but it is the truth. I was having to get up around three times during the night, which was crazy for me. That was one way I knew I was detoxing. I also wasn’t expecting day 6-8 to be as hard as they were. I had to just keep moving forward and remember why I am doing this and how it is healing my body.
Is there anything I would do differently the next time around? I would do two things different- I would eat more and I would have added in some spiritual practice. First, eating more when I was hungry. Instead of just eating on the schedule that was listed, I might have two dinners for example or more apples for my snacks. I would still be eating all the foods that follow in the guidelines, but maybe just more of them. Second, I wish I incorporated a meditation practice along with this. The body heals in different ways. Focusing and really be entuned with the body while it was healing would have been very special and I probably would have gained even more healing.
What to remember? First, try to stay away from any excessive working out while cleansing. Your body is already doing so much. I took a Barre class on my first day, and then only light stretching throughout the rest of the cleanse. Give yourself grace here, and rest. Second, plan, plan, plan. Being prepared is the best way to approach this cleanse. Read through all the information first. Create your menus for each day. Then create your grocery lists. I separated it into the three categories (like it does in the book). For example, I made my menus and grocery list for the first three days, then food prepped for those three days. On the last day of the three, I would do it all again for the next three days. I love lists, and they really help not feeling completely overwhelmed. Also make and bring all your own food. Have enough food with you so you won’t need to buy something on-the-go.
What to do after day 9? The next few days after finishing, I didn’t want to shock my body by going straight back to my normal eating. I will say, for the most part my “normal eating” is pretty healthy, but for those first days I still stayed away from fats (nuts, avocado, oil), grains, and salt. I also didn’t have any desserts besides some dates. Now a few days past, I have some avocado here and there, rice, some roasted vegetable with oil…but for me I still stay away from Medical Mediums “don’t eat list,” and try to limit my fats and grains. Still planning to make some yummy, vegan/gluten free Valentine’s treats next week though!

I hope this was helpful to anyone who has questions. Please let me know your thoughts or anything I didn’t answer. Thank you for spending your time with me, you have no idea how much that means. I hope your day is full of love and sunshine.
